The company: MVV GmbH
The MVV is an association of public transport authorities. The MVV GmbH is a holding company which carries out the planning, organisation and coordination of public transport in the larger Munich area.
History of the association
The MVV is one of the oldest transport associations in Germany. It was founded in preparation for the 1972 Summer Olympic Games. Since then, the association and its public transport network have experiences rapid growth.
Transport companies
The U-Bahn (underground), S-Bahn (urban rail), trams, inner-city buses and MVV regional buses are operated by 40 different transport companies as independent partners within the MVV group. The two largest companies are the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG), which operates the U-Bahn, trams and city buses, and the DB Regio AG / S-Bahn München.
