How can I purchase a MobileTicket?

You will need a smartphone with internet access as well as the free-of-charge MVV-App. A one-time registration is required. However, you can also register just before your first purchase. You can either select the ticket directly from the list in your app, or enter the starting point and destination of your journey into the app’s journey planner, and you will get a recommendation for the best ticket to buy. Just click on the ticket and add it to your shopping cart. You can purchase several tickets at one time. The ticket is then sent directly to your mobile phone; the cost of the ticket is charged to your account.

Which tickets can I buy as a MobileTicket?

The following tickets are currently available as MobileTickets: Single tickets, the entire range of Day Tickets (including the CityTourCard, the Airport-City-Day-Tickets and the Bicycle Day Ticket). In the medium term, we plan weekly and monthly passes as well.

What devices can I use the MobileTicket with?

The application is available free of charge via Google Play Store, Apple App Store and Windows Phone Store.

How do I register for the MobileTicket?

You can register on the MVV homepage or directly in the app. Simply enter your name, date of birth, address and e-mail address and a password.

Can I buy a MobileTicket for someone else?

Yes, you can buy a MobileTicket for another passenger who will be travelling with you. When purchasing the ticket, you must provide that person’s name and date of birth. In case of a ticket inspection, the other passenger must be accompanied by the buyer, who in turn must present the ticket to the inspectors. Both the buyer and the accompanying passenger must carry along their official photo IDs in case of a ticket inspection.

When is the latest time for purchasing the MobileTicket?

According to the MVV’s terms and conditions, the MobileTicket must be purchased before getting onto a means of transport or before walking onto the platform. The same applies to the conventional paper tickets.

Can I buy a MobileTicket well in advance?

How does the mobile Stripe Ticket work?

With your first purchase you pay for all ten stripes of the Stripe Ticket. You can use your credit for further trips by clicking on “Buy tickets” and choosing the Stripe Ticket again. If your credit is enough for the chosen number of stripes, you can see the price of 0 € on the top since you have already paid for these stripes. If your credit is not enough, your existing stripes are used and in addition, you are offered a new Stripe Ticket with ten stripes. Within the confirmation process you can check again, if your trip is only paid by credit or if a new Stripe Ticket is required.

How much does a MobileTicket cost?

MobileTickets cost exactly the same as regular paper tickets purchased at ticket machines, sales points, kiosks and on MVV regional buses. Reducing the fare of MobileTickets and OnlineTickets, which cost a significant investment sum to set up, would decrease the overall fare income. This loss of fare income would then have to be compensated for by additionally raising the ticket prices for all MVV customers.

Which payment methods can I use?

You can pay for the MobileTicket via direct debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).

Why is the MobileTicket I bought debited from my bank account by a company called LogPay Financial Services GmbH?

This company is a German financial services provider that processes all payment transactions for MobileTickets and OnlineTickets on behalf of the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV).

Why is 1 euro debited from my bank account by the company LogPay Financial Services GmbH when I buy a ticket with my credit card for the first time?

The payment details are verified within the first disclosure of the data. Thereby the data are transmitted to the card issuer and an amount of 1 Euro is requested and authorized. The authorization usually expires within two weeks. There occurs no booking or collection of the requested amount.

Can I buy a MobileTicket without registration?

No, unfortunately this is not possible right now. However, you can purchase OnlineTickets at MVV homepage without registration if you pay by credit card.

I have already registered for the OnlineTicket. Do I have to register again for the MobileTicket?

No. If you have already registered once, this registration is valid for the MobileTicket as well as for the OnlineTicket.

Do I need an internet connection in order to present the MobileTicket I purchased to the ticket inspectors?

No. The ticket is saved in your account on your mobile phone. This means you will always be able to present it, even if you do not have an online connection at that moment.

How is the MobileTicket inspected?

In case of a ticket inspection, the MobileTicket has to be presented on your smartphone’s display. The inspector will scan and automatically check the barcode with an electronic device. You’ll have to carry an official photo ID (e.g. identity card, passport) with you. The ticket inspector may request to see it.

Why do I have to carry along an official photo ID?

MobileTickets are personal tickets, meaning the name of the passenger is also stated directly on the ticket. In order to prove that the ticket does in fact belong to that particular passenger, he or she must carry along an official photo ID (e.g. ID card, passport). If you cannot or do not show your ID to ticket inspectors upon request, you will be ordered to pay a fine.

What happens when a ticket inspector wants to see my ticket but my phone’s battery is empty or I lost my phone?

If you are unable to present the MobileTicket to a ticket inspector (e.g. due to a technical problem, empty phone battery, etc.), you will be treated as a passenger travelling without a valid ticket, meaning you can then file an objection regarding the ticket inspection or be fined to pay a penalty fare. If your ticket is not available for the reasons stated above or if it wasn’t transferred properly to your phone, you are obliged to purchase a valid ticket by other means before starting your journey.

How can I get a receipt for my MobileTicket to reclaim travel expenses or if the ticket is used for work-related purposes?
