Barrier-free MVV
It is our aim to make journeys as easy as possible for our disabled passengers at any time of day. Therefore, the MVV transport companies are not only committed to designing stations without barriers, but also to designing barrier-free vehicles as well.
However, since it is not yet possible to offer certain services at each and every station or stop or in all vehicles, we recommend that you find out about the situation at your point of departure and at your destination, and at any points where you may need to change to a different line/means of transportation, before starting your journey.
Some of our services:
- Lifts and moving walkways at stations and ramps in buses and trams which can be lowered.
- Easy orientation at stops or in vehicles via visual and audio means or displays; also, some audio warnings of closing doors, wide doors for easy access, extra spaces for wheelchairs, buggies and bicycles as well as a means for contacting the conductor at a height suitable for wheelchair users.
- At platforms and in some station halls and at some stops: there is a 20 cm wide grooved strip on the floor at a safe distance to the edge of the platform. The grooves can be felt with the feet or a white stick.
- Good illumination, sufficient space and the avoidance of built-in parts, niches and edges, mainly in the platform area.
- Nearly all disabled public toilets are within the MVV area.
- Kerbstones are mostly lowered to 3 cm.
- The timetables displayed at stations, our “MVV barrier-free” brochure and timetable booklets all enable you to see at a glance which routes and lines run vehicles with appropriate disabled access.
- Barrier-free EFA journey planner, which shows the availability of lifts or ramps, for example. It is also possible to choose from three speeds: “slow”, “average” and “fast”.
- Barrier-free website in the form of a text-only version, available at the top left of each page.
- EFA is also available in a › barrier-free version.
