Short trip

Make use of short trips

A short trip is every trip up to the fourth stop after getting on the vehicle. However, you are only allowed two stops when using the suburban railway (S-Bahn) or the underground (U-Bahn) – even if you cross a zone boundary.

Combinations are possible, e.g. two stops by underground (U-Bahn) and two by bus. You are allowed to change and take a break during your trip.

In the local districts outside of Munich, each trip by bus within a local district is deemed a short trip, regardless of the number of stops.

For a short trip you must validate one stripe of your stripe ticket or a short trip single ticket. The maximum travelling time is one hour.

Example:
To get from Ostbahnhof (Munich East Station) to Maxmonument you have to travel two stops with the S-Bahn to Isartor, then two stops with the no. 17 tramline to Maxmonument. This is a four-stop trip and only two of these stops are with the S-Bahn - therefore the short trip tariff applies.

Note
It is not permitted to combine several short trips together, or to combine zone trips with short trips. However, you may extend the validity of your IsarCard by adding a Short Trip Ticket to it.
