Children under the age of 6 travel free of charge. They do not need a ticket and may be accompanied in unlimited numbers. If they are not yet of school age, they must be accompanied by a person who is at least 6 years old.
Some monthly passes and the Single Day Ticket include the option to bring children between the ages of 6 and 14. Anyone holding a valid Monthly Pass, Monthly Pass 9am, Monthly Pass S, or Monthly Pass Job may allow children aged 6 to 14 to travel for free from Monday to Friday on working days from 9 a.m., and at all times on weekends and public holidays. The rule is: an unlimited number of one’s own children and grandchildren may be taken along, while for all others the maximum is three.
With the Monthly Pass 65, however, bringing children is not permitted.
The Group Day Tickets basically permit 5 adults to travel on the same ticket – with children counting as half an adult.
Your dog rides for free - if you have a valid MVV ticket or a Deutschlandticket.
Each additional dog requires a children’s ticket if not travelling in a basket or a bag.
The animal must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle in all vehicles and in S-Bahn (urban rail) and U-Bahn (underground) stations if it could be a risk to other passengers.
Attack dogs are excluded from travelling on vehicles.
