The magnificent waiting room of the historic Possenhofen railway station, dating from 1865 and once a meeting place for the European aristocracy, forms the heart of the exhibition. BADEHAUS Memorial Site
The Wolfratshausen district of Waldram – formerly known as Föhrenwald – is a poignant testament to the region’s recent history. Originally intended as a Nazi model settlement for armaments workers, it later became a stopover on the death march from Dachau. After the war, it served as a camp for Jewish displaced persons who had survived the Holocaust. In the late 1950s, families with many children who had been displaced from their homes finally found a home here.
Through vivid, multimedia presentations and guided tours, the museum brings this moving history to life. It is a place of remembrance, encounter and learning for the future. Tip: The BADEHAUS app offers an audio guide for the permanent exhibition and the historical tour of the site.

Franz Marc Museum
Immerse yourself in the dreamlike art of Expressionism. The Franz Marc Museum was founded in 1986 to showcase the famous painter’s works in the very landscape that inspired him. In a stunning location above Lake Kochel, a collection of around 2,000 works awaits you. The modern new building displays paintings, drawings and sculptures from the ‘Blue Rider’, the ‘Bridge’ and post-1945 ‘Abstraction’.
In the museum café, Franz am See, you can enjoy the beautiful mountain panorama and the view of the lake over a drink. And if your visit to the museum has inspired you to create your own works of art, there is the Open Studio, where you can get creative yourself on Sundays from 1 pm to 5 pm.
