Loyalty card and token

The student card is a prerequisite for the student fare.
Together with a valid weekly or monthly pass (travel pass), it serves as your ticket.

The customer card is personal and is issued upon application.
The token is valid for a specified period.

Important:
Only the combination of a customer card and a valid token entitles you to use public transport.

Application for a loyalty card

The following documents are required for the application:

  • completed order form
  • Passport photo (only for children aged 6 to 15)
  • Confirmation from the training provider (for pupils aged 14 and under, provided by the parents)
  • Alternatively: supporting documents such as a training contract, certificate of enrolment or work placement contract
  • Proof of address (e.g. identity card or registration certificate)

Ordering a loyalty card

The process for applying for a customer card may vary depending on the transport operator:

  • online by uploading the documents
  • printing the customer card after ordering online
  • in person at customer service centres

Who is eligible for the trainee rate

The training fare is intended for regular journeys between home and the place of training.
Its use is restricted to certain groups of people.

Eligible groups include:

  • Pupils and students
    at state schools, state-approved or state-recognised private schools, as well as universities and colleges
  • Pupils and students at other educational institutions
    if they are exempt from compulsory vocational school attendance or are eligible for funding under the Federal Training Assistance Act
  • Participants in adult education
    , such as those catching up on school qualifications (secondary school or lower secondary school)
  • Trainees
    in a recognised vocational training programme or in comparable forms of training
  • Participants in state-recognised vocational preparation schemes
  • Interns and trainees
    , provided the internship or traineeship is related to a formal training programme or course of study
  • Civil service trainees
    at qualification levels 1 to 3, provided that no travel expenses are reimbursed by the employer
  • Participants in voluntary service schemes
    such as the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ), Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) or comparable programmes

The student fare is only granted if appropriate proof is provided.
Not all educational programmes automatically qualify for this fare.

Please compile all the necessary documents and send them, together with a pre-addressed and stamped envelope, to one of the service centres listed on the order form.

Important:
The return envelope is required for sending the customer card.
