MVV and the districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Miesbach, Starnberg and Weilheim-Schongau invite you to discover the region’s many beer gardens. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, culinary delights or a chance to socialise, our beer garden tour has the perfect experience for you.
Welcome to the MVV Beer Garden Tour
What was invented in Munich and has since become the epitome of the Bavarian way of life far beyond Bavaria’s borders? It is the beer garden. A place where relaxation, culinary delights and conviviality come together in the most pleasant way. Where the best beer garden can be found is almost a matter of personal belief.
How about setting off on a quest to answer that question for yourself? If the journey there is completely stress-free, with no traffic jams or hunting for a parking space, then nothing stands in the way of Bavarian cosiness.
Travel by public transport, travel sustainably
We look forward to you travelling by bus and train for the sake of the environment. This way, your trip will not only be exciting but also sustainable. We’d like to thank you in advance for using the MVV.
Picturesque atmosphere
Seehof Herrsching
The beer garden is situated right on the shores of Lake Ammer, next to the steamboat jetty, and offers shaded seating beneath chestnut trees. The beer garden is particularly lovely in the evening, when you can enjoy the magnificent sunsets over Lake Ammer. The beer garden’s motto is: “Enjoy the Bavarian way of life to the full.” There is both a staff-served beer garden and a self-service area where you are allowed to bring your own food. The beer garden is open in fine summer weather. Booking a table is strongly recommended for the staff-served area at weekends and on public holidays.
There are numerous places to visit nearby, including the steamboat jetty in Herrsching, the Kurparkschlößchen Herrsching and the Herrsching lakeside promenade, which is known as the longest lakeside promenade in Germany. The beer garden is also an ideal starting point for a hike to Andechs Monastery. You can find further excursion destinations and information at starnbergammersee.de/entdecken-erleben.

The special kiosk
Maisinger Seehof
The Maisinger Seehof is situated directly on the idyllic Lake Maising and has a long history dating back to 1680. At that time, a small pond house was built right by the lake at the same time as the dam. In 1899, the Seehof was extended to its current size, although the walls at the front of the building are still the original walls of the 17th-century pond house.
The philosophy behind the beer garden’s offering is ‘just like in the old days’, focusing on regional produce, impeccable, ethically sourced food and only homemade dishes from our own kitchen. The beer garden is open seasonally from the Easter holidays until mid-October, though it is closed on Mondays and remains closed in bad weather. Guests are welcome to bring their own food.
There are numerous excursion options nearby, including the König-Ludwig-Weg and the Maisinger Schlucht Rundweg, both of which are ideal for hiking. Further excursion destinations and information can be found at starnbergammersee.de/entdecken-erleben.
