Nationwide survey on mobility in Germany (as of 2017)

Mobility in Germany (MiD)

The Mobility in Germany (MiD) survey is a nationwide survey of households regarding their everyday travel behaviour. It was previously conducted in 2002 and 2008, and was carried out again in 2017 on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) by infas Institut für angewandte Sozialwissenschaft GmbH in cooperation with other transport research institutes.

The City of Munich, Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund GmbH (MVV) and Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG) participated in MiD 2017 as regional clients with their own sample in order to obtain reliable data on the everyday mobility of citizens in the city of Munich, the surrounding area and the MVV transport network.

For MVV GmbH, the Mobility in Germany study provides an up-to-date and robust data foundation on key factors influencing mobility within the MVV network area and forms a central basis for transport planning and transport research.

In the regional report for the city of Munich, the surrounding area and the MVV network area, selected topics are analysed in depth alongside general findings on transport use.
