Cycling and puzzles at the “MVV Cycle Rallies”: Two new routes through the MVV network districts

MVV is once again offering its “MVV Cycle Rallies” in 2026:

two scenic tours through the districts covered by the MVV network, both between 40 and 50 kilometres long. The first rally starts in the district of Ebersberg and leads to the cathedral city of Freising,

whilst the second tour begins in Neubiberg and ends in Starnberg. The start and finish points are easily accessible by S-Bahn, and well-spaced questions at selected stops provide moments of discovery and playful breaks along the way. All routes are suitable for touring bikes, mountain bikes and pedelecs.

Tour 1: From Poing to the cathedral city of Freising

This easy tour from Poing to the cathedral city of Freising combines peaceful paths, plenty of nature and little discoveries – ideal for a relaxing outing with family or friends. From Poing S-Bahn station (S2), the route takes you through parks and the Landshamer Moos to the reservoir, continuing along safe cycle paths to Ismaning and leisurely along the River Isar. At several stops, you’ll need knowledge, powers of observation and curiosity to answer the rally questions. In Freising (S1), the Domberg, further puzzle stops and the finale in Weihenstephan ensure a relaxing end to the tour. The total length of the tour is approx. 47 kilometres, with an elevation gain of around 150 metres. It is classified as ‘easy’ and mostly follows well-maintained field, gravel and tarmac paths.

Tour 2: From Neubiberg to Starnberg

This MVV cycle rally from Neubiberg (S5) to Starnberg-Nord (S6) offers plenty of variety on mostly quiet paths and is ideal for a relaxed day out with family or friends. From Neubiberg, the route takes you across open countryside, through woods and along the River Isar to Starnberg-Nord. Along the way, rally questions at selected stops encourage you to take a closer look, observe nature and actively discover regional history. Beer gardens, picnic spots and shady forest sections make the tour pleasant and easy to plan – even without any sporting ambition. Total
length of this tour: approx. 40 km, around 300 metres of elevation gain. The difficulty level is ‘easy to moderate’. The routes mainly follow tarmac as well as firm forest and woodland paths.

Taking your bike on the S-Bahn

All start and finish points of the MVV cycle tours are easily accessible by public transport; a day ticket for your bike is required. During school holidays, there are no restrictions on taking bikes on MVV services.
