Frequent users of the MVV transport network can save money by using a weekly or monthly ticket, benefit from the ticket’s transferability, and take up to three children with them free of charge from 9 am Monday to Friday.

The MVV monthly travelcard subscription offers unlimited travel within the selected zones for twelve months. There are three options: the standard monthly travelcard, the ‘9 am monthly travelcard’ (valid on weekdays from 9 am only) and the ‘65 monthly travelcard’ for senior citizens. The passes are available either as personal passes (non-transferable, but replaceable if lost) or as transferable passes (not replaceable if lost). Payment is made monthly. Children aged between 6 and 14 can travel free of charge on most options. The tickets are available as a chip card, mobile ticket or paper ticket.

Good to know – Monthly pass subscription

The MVV monthly ticket subscription is issued by MVG or DB. There are three ways to order:

1. Order online
directly via the MVG or DB websites.

2. Order by fax or post

  • Download, complete and print the order form
  • Send by fax or post to the number or address specified on the order form
  • The monthly ticket subscription will be delivered by post

3. Ordering in person

  • Download the order form, fill it in and print it out
  • Bring your ID card and Girocard
  • Visit the selected subscription service point
  • Allow for waiting times if you wish to take it with you immediately; alternatively, it will be sent by post

  • Personalised ticket: Valid for 12 months, issued in your own name, non-transferable.
  • Replacement in the event of loss: A replacement ticket will be issued for the remaining period for €5 (paper) or €15 (chip card).
  • Goodwill in the event of a ticket inspection: If the season ticket is not presented during a ticket inspection, the increased fare is reduced to €7 if proof is provided within 14 days.
  • Refund in the event of illness: A pro-rata refund will be issued for at least 15 days of incapacity to travel, subject to a medical certificate – for a maximum of 60 days. This benefit applies only to the monthly pass subscription, not to 9 o’clock or 65+ subscriptions.
  • Proof of identity: In addition to the season ticket, you must carry official photo ID with you on every journey.

  • Flexible use: The ticket can be used in turn by several people, e.g. friends, acquaintances or neighbours.
  • Ticketing inspection without a ticket: If you are found without a valid ticket during a ticketing inspection, an increased fare of €60 will be charged.
  • Format and replacement:
    • Paper format: Consists of 12 individual monthly stamps to minimise the risk of loss.
    • Chip card: Replacement card available; no replacement available for the paper version.

  • Monthly travelcard (subscription) and 9 am monthly travelcard (subscription):
    • Children aged 6 to 14 may travel free of charge on weekdays from 9 am, and at other times around the clock.
    • Any number of children and grandchildren provided proof of relationship; otherwise, a maximum of three children.
  • Monthly Pass 65 (subscription) and Monthly Pass 65 Transition (subscription):
    • Does not include travel for children.

  • For holders of season tickets and travel passes, a connecting ticket is available for single journeys outside the valid travel area.
    • Available from ticket machines or as a mobile ticket.
    • Takes into account the zones already paid for.
  • In addition, a season ticket can be combined with single tickets, multi-trip tickets or day tickets.
    • These tickets must be validated at the latest at the final stop within the valid zone, ideally at the start of the journey.

  • Changes (e.g. to your address or the area of coverage) and replacement cards for personal subscriptions can be requested via the Subscription Centre’s service portal, by fax or by email.
  • Cancellation:
    • Possible at any time with one month’s notice in writing.
    • Via the service portal, by fax or email.
    • Any remaining season tickets must be returned by registered post or handed in in person.
  • Replacement in the event of loss:
    • Transferable subscription: Replacement card for the remaining period for €15 (chip card); paper tickets cannot be replaced.
    • Personal subscription: Replacement card for the remaining period for €5 (paper) or €15 (chip card).
