If you are travelling to a destination outside your ticket zone, you will need a connecting ticket to continue your journey.
There are suitable connection options for every type of ticket – such as single tickets, multi-journey tickets, day tickets, short-distance tickets or, in the case of season tickets, a special connection ticket for season tickets.
The connecting ticket must be validated at the latest at the last stop within your ticket’s validity zone, either at the start of your journey or when changing trains.

Connecting ticket for season tickets
For season ticket and subscription holders, there is a special connecting ticket, available from ticket machines or as a mobile ticket. It
- takes into account zones already paid for,
- is valid for a single journey in the direction of your destination (changes are permitted, but return journeys are not),
- is valid for 3 hours,
- does not include free travel for children,
- must be purchased before reaching the fare boundary and is only valid in conjunction with the existing season ticket.
Example
Anyone holding a Zone M monthly pass and travelling to the airport (Zone 5) must supplement their journey with a connecting ticket for Zones 1–5 (from a ticket machine) or for 5 zones outside Zone M (via HandyTicket).
